Moran Hollow Airbnb
Fleichmanns, New York - Deep in the heart of the Catskills Mountains ski country
I’d just picked up a copy of Cabin Porn - Inside before shooting this place, and there were several night / astrophotography style images that I absolutely loved, so I was really intentional about making some photos in that style of this place.
I’m pretty pleased with the beautiful glow and specks of stars in the sky. Really love the vibe. I do wish there was a bit more snow in the trees, but you get what you get with the weather, y’know?
This new drone does a stellar job at long exposure low light aerial images
I was really pumped to to take a dip in the hot tub, too, but they’d just bought this place and it wasn’t quite working (it looked nice, but was more lukewarm than hot). Maybe next time.
What I find the most fun about shooting AirBnBs vs real estate is the opportunity to inject a lot more mood and atmosphere into the images. Since the whole intention is to spend the night here, I lean heavily into the cozy, sleepy bedrooms vibe, rather than your typical bright and sunny real estate listing.
It’s also more casual and laid back than my typical architecture shoot, which is also a welcome change of pace.
This shoot was over the course of one afternoon until post-sunset, so about 6 hours on the first day, and then a few hours in the rainy morning. We’d initially planned to stay for several days to get even more content, but there was a schedule conflict that prevented my family from tagging along, so we’re planning to visit again in another season to get some supplemental images then.
