Outerlands

Rustic Driftwood Charm and subtle lighting with perfect execution

Outerlands is a neighborhood institution, and a destination within the city. Warm intimate dining and a gorgeous driftwood accented interior.

While the food is absolutely delicious, it’s the design that really stands out to me here. The expert lighting design is a marvel we’ll dig into.

The wooden cages of these lights fits very well with the wooden walls, even if it’s a different shade, and the geometric shapes are contrasted with the smooth curves elsewhere in the space.

In a city of ceramics, there could be no more appropriate light fixture

the glow

absorbs us

There’s an almost alien sci-fi aesthetic to this glowing curve. Is it a portal to another place? Or is it just a perfectly designed sconce, letting out just the right amount of ambience and none of the glare?

soft light is just right

That warm glow on the right casting soft light onto the rustic woods is the stuff of my dreams. I love that it adds just a touch of light in that dark corner that the daylight doesn’t quite reach. Perfect placement. And, best of all - you cannot see the light’s origin. There’s just the light, nothing else. Perfection.

loaf land

Of course, I did have an amazing lunch amid all this beauty.

Damn this sandwich was delicious - and would you JUST LOOK AT THAT BREAD?

GOOD LORDY.
